Willard Willard

About Our School

The original Willard School was built in 1909 and was located at the west end of the current site facing Wall Street on a site of 1.86 acres. Willard was named after Frances Willard (1839 1895) who was an educator and a leader in the cause of human rights and equal opportunities. Additions were made to the building in 1911,1917,1952, and 1953. Ground breaking ceremonies for the new building were held on December 6, 1979.

The school mascot is the cougar and the school colors are blue and white. The new cougar logo featured on the cover of the calendar was designed by District No. 81's former graphic artist Doug Minor. His design makes use of the initials of Willard Elementary School, forming the profile of the cougar mascot.
