Sheridan Sheridan

Curriculum & Programs

Welcome from the Sheridan P.T.A.

We’d like to invite new and returning Sheridan parents, teachers, staff, and community members to join our P.T.A this year! The support from each one of us is essential to the P.T.A.’s goal of nurturing and enhancing the life of each and every student here.

The P.T.A. is an organization, whose membership is open to anyone who is interested in being involved with, and supporting the children and youth in our school. This includes parents, teachers, and community members. We all need to work together to help create educated and involved youth who are prepared to meet the challenges of today and the future. We seek to bring into closer relation the home and the school, with parents and teachers working cooperatively in the education of our children. At Sheridan, we advocate equal treatment of all children in their pursuit for educational excellence. We have an active P.T.A. Safety Committee that, with your support, was very instrumental in convincing our City Council to install the new traffic light on the corner of 5th and Freya.

In the past, the P.T.A., with your help and support, has provided new playground equipment, library books, athletic uniforms, a scoreboard for athletic events, field trips, science equipment, language classes, funds for classroom projects, computer technology and assemblies. We have helped our families throughout the years when special needs have arisen. We have provided scholarships for camps. We have held special fun events such as Bingo Night, the Carnival, and have provided refreshments for numerous Sheridan ftmctions. We also have helped our surrounding community by donating items through activities such as the Tree of Sharing at Tidyman’s, Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives, and Miss School/Miss Out program.

Each year, new objectives and goals for P.T.A. are set. This process involves our members. To reach those goals, the Sheridan P.T.A. sponsors a variety of family events and ftmdraisers. Please check the calendar for our scheduled events.

This year, we would like to increase our membership considerably. The more members we have, the more we can accomplish. Remember, this is your organization. Only with your help and input can we help our children grow. The P.T.A.’s goals are your goals. Please don’t hesitate to share your ideas . . . . they are welcome! Call any of your P.T.A. officers with your concerns, ideas, and input.
