Dear Moran Prairie Families,
Welcome to another school year at Moran Prairie! We’re very excited to continue the great tradition of excellence here at Moran. Along with a brand new Kindergarten class and some other new students, we are welcoming several new staff members, including Sherrie Skladany (Grade 2), Mary Ristau (Grade 2), Katie Chisholm (K AM), Ben Huntington (Grade 2 AM) and Teri Rowell (Librarian). Barbara Stern will be teaching fourth grade, Heather Moore moves from Instructional Coach to share a second grade classroom with Ben Huntington, and Karrie Brown moves to third grade. We also have two new instructional assistants: Dolly McElwain and Toni Coffman.
We continue with Collaborative Time every Thursday from 8:00-9:00 for all teachers. This very important hour for professional development is carved from teachers arriving a half hour early and students arriving a half hour late every Thursday. Though we as a district certainly recognize that this may be a burden to families, the time has been invaluable for us to continue learning and bringing the best possible education to your students, which is definitely our goal at Moran Prairie. So again, like the past two years, every Thursday we will start a half hour late. First bell will be 9:20, classes will begin at 9:30.
In the Parent Handbook, you’ll find important information about our values and beliefs as well as the ‘how to’s’ for Moran Prairie Families. There is some new information which I hope will better explain our discipline policy and process here at Moran. Please take a few minutes to read through the pages opposite the calendar months, and use this handbook throughout the year when you have a question about when, how, or why something is happening at Moran Prairie. There is information about how to contact any staff member. Below, you’ll also find ways to contact me directly if you ever need my assistance.
Have a great year, and remember: Do not hesitate to contact any one of us if you have any questions or concerns!
Sincerely,
Matthew Handelman
