Homework Expectations   (back to home)

HOMEWORK

Homework will be sent home each Monday along with a weekly planner.  Each homework activity will have an assigned day to be returned. Math homework will will be assigned as needed along with (Social Studies, Science, Reading.) Students should read for at least 30 minutes each night.  If they have assignments that require reading this can be used for the 30 minutes.

SPELLING/SPELLING HOMEWORK

Monday nights homework spelling homework will vary. On Tuesday night students will usually have a topic to write about. The writing may be narrative or expository. Wednesday night students will proofread and correct a paragraph. Along with the spelling homework students may be assigned other tasks in the other curriculum areas. Students who do not complete their homework will complete it at recess or any free time they may have at school. It is very important for students to create a positive habit of completing their homework in a timely manner.

Students will bring home a daily homework planner. After viewing their work you will need to sign this planner. It is absolutely imperative that you are aware of what your child is doing in the classroom. Please make viewing their homework and signing the homework planner a priority. Students who have too many homework assignments not turned in on time will receive a notice for you to sign. If we keep an open line of communication between the school and home students can't help but benefit.

In addition to the daily planner you will also receive a "Homework Verification Form" every Monday. Students will bring home work completed in the classroom along with their corrected homework. By looking over their assignments you will be able to determine how your child is progressing. This form is due back to school on Tuesday (or the first day back to school after receiving the form.)
