Hello Everyone,
Contrary to what I have been hearing, yes your child does have homework! The crunch is on and we are preparing for WASL. One of the best ways to prepare is to have your child keep up a routine of practicing multiplication facts, core words, priority words, and read, read, read! Did I mention read? Along with their reading there is a reading journal with a writing prompt for each day of the week. I have added an extra stipulation for their homework. I would like a parent/guardian/adult/responsible person, to sign a piece of paper stating whether their child did or did not do homework. As long as it is known if the child did or did not do the homework it is the choice that the child has made. I cannot guarantee this will not affect grades. Certain homework will be a must and the child will KNOW when and what it is.
On some lighter news, the class did terrific on their last reading assessment and math SASL. Big grins and pat on the backs all around. Science is the subject of choice these days. The students love the hands on experiments and are actually learning the vocabulary. Test them!! Ask if they know the meaning of delta, meander, canyon, valley and plain.
Now that I know how to update this page I will try to keep everyone posted on the news and events of room 217.
Best regards,
Ms. Larson
PS They gave me the best birthday I have had in years!!! And as soon as I figure out how to add a picture to this I will!!
