WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER!

Message to the Community

The words “user friendly” best describe Jefferson’s outreach to students, families, and the larger community. Our open door policy invites not only parents but community members to visit classrooms and share our facilities and equipment. We encourage you to get involved in the PTG, enjoy a music program, volunteer in a classroom or the Project Place, sponsor a student in our walkathon, tutor in the reading room, attend a sports event, observe one of our special classes at work, or have lunch with us!

A large cadre of parent and community helpers assists us in creating a learning environment which meets the needs of each Jefferson student. All Jefferson parents are members of the PTG, whose collective energy and leadership provide many extensions for children, including reading night and a community service project, Hearts and Hands. In each classroom and beyond to the publishing center, reading room, special events, health and P. E. screening, and tutoring sessions, PTG volunteers provide support for school activities. Our partnership with Albertson’s helps to link our work in education with the business community.

Volunteer Aide Program

Volunteer aides have been an important part of Jefferson's school program for the past several years.  Aides strengthen our program by:

  • Providing more individual help for each child.
  • Giving the teacher more time to teach by giving classroom assistance.
  • Enriching the curriculum through use of community resources.
  • Providing a communication link between the schools and the community.
  • Assisting students and staff with a variety of special projects.

If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Aide or would like more information about the School Volunteer Aide Program, please contact the school office or the PTG Volunteer Coordinators.
