Hutton’s Site Council
Members on the Site Council will seek the support of and be accessible to the Hutton School Community (staff, parents, students, and neighboring community). The Site Council will make recommendations that support and are consistent with the Hutton School Vision and Belief Statements. The Site Council and the Hutton School Community will share the responsibility of creating and maintaining a learning environment which allows each student to reach his or her full potential.
The Site Council, acting on behalf of the Hutton School Community, will manage the process of conducting needs assessments, collecting data and obtaining feedback. The Site Council will make recommendations to the extent allowed by law, regulations, and contracts, and shall seek variances from Spokane School District No. 81 rules, regulations, policy, or collective bargaining agreement(s) when determined appropriate.
Specific purposes of the Site Council will include:
1. Promoting the highest possible performance of each individual
student.
2. Providing an organizational framework for decision-making so that
restructuring can occur. Restructuring can be defined as a
continuous process of change for the purpose of school
improvement to increase student achievement.
3. Focusing on issues related to the entire, school-wide educational
process at Hutton Elementary School.
Serving as a forum for input from the Hutton School Community.
5. Communicating agenda items and actions taken to the Hutton
School Community.
6. Providing input to central administration regarding the impact of
district decisions on the Hutton School Community.
7. Seeking approval for variances sought from SEA contracts and/or
District policy and procedures.
8. Coordinating the functioning of standing committees at Hutton
Elementary School and creating additional committees ad hoc
committees and critical study groups as determined necessary.
9. Supporting existing programs and activities at Hutton which
presently provide a learning environment that allows each student
to reach his or her full potential and promote the highest possible
student performance.
