Hamblen is a wonderful school, with a staff that is committed to providing the best education possible for our students. It is a building where the library/media center is truly the core of the school. Students can be found in the library before school, during lunch and after school, working on projects, doing research or reading.
The staff at Hamblen has made a commitment to improving mathematics instruction for all students, so they are as prepared as possible for their futures in education and beyond. Much of the collaborative time in the 2007-2008 academic year will be used in this endeavor.
There are many things that make Hamblen a special place for our students, and certainly one of the most important is the huge parent involvement in this school. More than 300 parents, friends and neighbors have given their time to chaperone field trips, work with individual students, and help in classrooms. Their willingness to help in a myriad of ways enhances the education of Hamblen students and is an enormous help to the staff.
Hamblen's 510 students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade are active learners, good citizens and nice kids. I feel privileged to be spending my year with them.
Sincerely,
Rodger Lake
Principal
