About Our School

Hamblen is one of 35 elementary schools operated by Spokane Public Schools in Spokane, Washington. The district, with 32,000 students, is the second largest in the state. The school enrolls 500+ students in grades K-6.

The Hamblen Husky Express Program is before- and after-school child care for boys and girls in Grades K-6. A kindergarten program is also run from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The Express program provides a safe, nurturing, and learning filled child-care alternative for elementary-age school children. Inquiries should be made through Hamblen Express.

Regular School hours are:

  • 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. for kindergarten

  • 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for grades 1-6

Most Hamblen graduates continue their studies at Chase Middle School (grades 7-8) and Ferris High School (grades 9-12). For further information on these schools, contact:

Snow Closures

Decisions regarding snow closures and delays are made at the district level and apply to all schools in Spokane School District 81. Information regarding closures and delays is usually reported on local radio and television by 6:30 a.m. Closure information is also reported online at ESD 101.

The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) is a statewide test used to measure application of knowledge to problem-solving tasks. It also is used to evaluate school and district performance improvements. Scores reflect the percentage of students meeting the state’s minimum standards.
