Our Mission

The Franklin mission is to support each child’s academic journey as a confident, respectful, and independent learner. We strive to develop a love of learning, an appreciation of individual differences, and an understanding of socially responsible behavior that will serve as a foundation for Franklin students for the rest of their lives.

Our Beliefs

• We believe students experience a higher level of learning when they are empowered. Therefore, we put decision-making and goal-setting in the hands of students whenever possible, in developmentally appropriate ways.

• We believe in a dynamic, collaborative teaching model. Therefore we make time to collaborate with colleagues as we evaluate and analyze student data. The resulting information helps us refine our practices to meet student needs and improve learning.

 

• We believe students learn best when they feel safe, both emotionally and physically. Therefore, we foster an environment of acceptance for all people and embrace restorative practices versus punitive consequences.

• We believe family and community are essential partners in learning. Therefore we endeavor to create opportunity for others to contribute in an inclusive environment.
