We've started the 2007-08 school off with an immediate emphasis on Character Counts, a national program that teaches decision making based on four foundational characteristics. Building on our start from last spring, Franklin held an assembly the second week of school. I was so impressed wtih the students' recollection of the six pillars. We're urging students to "show what they know" this year, and put their knowledge of the six pillars into action.
I'm working in classrooms throughout the year to bring the meaning and messages of Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness and Citizenship to alll students. Ask your child what he or she has been learning, and I'll add more details here as time allows.
