Our Vision/StatementÂ
Audubon Elementary School, in partnership with parents and community, will provide opportunities for students to develop their full potential academically and socially to become life-long learners and productive citizens. Students will develop effective communication skills, reach a high level of self-esteem and learn mutual respect. Students will be accountable for their own actions and successfully participate in the learning process.
We Believe That:
- Curriculum should relate to the real world
- All students learn in different ways and at different rates
- Personal responsibility is necessary for students to move from dependent to independent learning
- The home and family have a significant influence on a child's desire to learn
- Each student needs to see himself/herself as a responsible, necessary member of society
- Everyone has a right to a safe and supportive environment
- Everyone should respect the diversity, culture, and rights of others.
What Makes Audubon Elementary Special?
During the school year, the Audubon student population will run between 640 to 660 students. A staff of 70plus takes an active, caring role in every student's life.
We provide an educational atmosphere in which children are given opportunities to practice making good choices, but are held responsible for improper ones. Staff members work diligently with students to develop and practice respect as they deal with each other. Our goal is to make school a safe, comfortable and positive learning environment.
Audubon staff members set high expectations for all students and work with each toward achieving them. All students have the opportunity to earn Golden E's for outstanding work habits and social growth. Students in grade four through six can receive academic recognition by receiving Outstanding or Superior Honor Roll certificates and awards. Audubon is an identified Washington State Reading Corp School. We currently have over 50 volunteers working with students in the building. They work with all children in the classrooms, meeting individual needs, providing a shared language, and using effective instructional practices in efforts to meet the district's and state's learning targets.
Audubon has a comprehensive and effective instruction design based on literacy blocks with every class having a support team scheduled for 30 minutes each day. Each team consists of a certificated facilitator, two instructional assistants, and parent volunteers who help meet individual needs, provide a shared language and practice effective teaching techniques.
Audubon is a great place to learn. We stand proud of our accomplishments!

Message to the Community
It is with great pride we submit our annual report to you. It's purpose is to inform you of special programs available at Audubon Elementary. The doors of Audubon are always open to parents and community members. We recognize that when everyone works together, we can provide an educational environment for all children to achieve their optimum level of capabilities.
Audubon's School Wide Plan is based on seven major committees. They include: Equity, Discipline, Extended Enrichment Time, Technology, Community/Parent Involvement, Instructional-Assessment, and Early Childhood. Along with staff members, each committee actively recruits parents. This is a great opportunity for you to be heard. Along with staff members, each committee actively recruits parents.
