Be Careful What You Ask For....
Enrollment Verification forms will be sent home soon. Parent/guardians should consider how they mark the Directory Information question in the lower corner of these forms. Examples of Directory Information include name, address, listed telephone number(s), date and place of birth, major field of study, photographs or video/audio tape or other similar information that would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. Withholding this information has a wide-ranging effect. It means schools will not add a student's name to a printed roster. The student won't appear on a posted class list, honor roll list, or in newsletters or the yearbook. They will not be included in the band, orchestra, choir or drama performance program. Their name won't be announced at graduation. Generally, students names can't be listed anywhere that would allow them to be viewed by the public. To withhold directory information, parents or guardians can mark on the school registration form, or they can simply submit a written request at any time during the school year. Parents and guardians reserve the right to ask a school to withhold or not withhold directory information as they wish.
